Purpose of the Program
Alberta has introduced a new pathway to permanent residency through the Alberta Tourism and Hospitality Stream, part of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). This initiative aims to bridge the gap between the increasing demand for workers in the province's tourism sector and the shortage of skilled workers. Eligibility Requirements Employer Requirements When applying for the Alberta Tourism and Hospitality Stream, it's crucial that your employer's primary business aligns with specific categories recognized by the Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) of Alberta. This ensures your application meets the eligibility criteria. Valid coverage from WCB is necessary for employer eligibility under this stream. Ineligible Applicants Based on Job Offer Certain employment arrangements, such as part-time, seasonal, or remote work, are ineligible for this program. Independent contractors, business owners, and temporary agency workers are also excluded.
